When
did I become a doula?
While contemplating this question
I realised that I had been doula-ing through my reiki practice
all along.
However, in July 2007 I decided to make it more focussed. I
trained to become a Birth and Post Natal Doula
with Adela Stockton and registered with Doula UK.
I have worked with pregnant women, with expectant fathers and
with couples
all wanting to learn reiki to support themselves and or their
partners
before during and after the birth of their babies.
Reiki hands are very comforting during labour and afterwards.
I have had reports of some very chilled out reiki babies too!
It truly is a privilege
to place reiki hands on an unborn baby
and feel the gently stirrings of response.
So it seemed very natural to me to take this one step further
and train to be a doula.
For me the two are inextricably linked,
when I hold a baby the reiki flows, when I support the
parents the reiki flows.
